Village Overview

Perry Village is located at the eastern end of Lake County, Ohio. The 2010 census reported a population of just under 1,700 residents. Perry Village is named in honor of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry to commemorate his victory over the British Fleet at the Battle of Lake Erie in 1813. Perry Village was incorporated as a Village municipality in 1913. Known for its peaceful residential neighborhoods of newer housing mixed within historical dwellings, some of which date back to the 1880’s.

Perry has become known for its outstanding public school system and its unique educational campus of modern state of the art facilities. It is near to the Perry Nuclear Power Generating Station. Additionally, the Perry area has numerous nursery growing stock production companies. It is also home to the modern and popular Perry Public Library.

Community Services and Village Demographics

Perry Village is home to headquarters of many community services. Within its Center Road corridor you’ll find the Perry Village Municipal/ Police Center, the Perry Post Office, the Perry Joint Fire District Headquarters and Fire Station One, Perry Township Administration Offices, and Perry Schools Education Campus. The Perry Village Market & Café along with The Perry Village Pub are also on the Center Road corridor to meet your culinary needs.

Some interesting demographic numbers include:

  • 593 households and approximately 456 families reside in the Village.
  • There 630 housing units with an average density of 289 residents per square mile. Of the 593 households, 40.3% had children under the age of 18.
  • 60.7% were married couples.
  • Average household size was 2.78 and the average family size was 3.21.
  • Median age was 39.9 years old and 28.8% of the residents were under the age of 18, 23.8% were 25 to 44, 30.2% were 45 to 64, and 10.6% were 65 years of age or older.
  • Gender make up for the Village was 49.6% male & 50.4% female.

Note: Statistics are from the 2010 census. It is believed the 2020 census will show further statistical growth for the Village of Perry.

Perry Village, with guidance from its adopted Strategic Plan, sets forth in its annual objectives ways to improve service delivery components as well as putting into place a comprehensive plan to sustain our infrastructure and maintain a balanced budget.
